Why Is Bollywood Silent on the Jammu & Kashmir's Reasi Terror Attack?

Mumbai: In a recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, nine people were killed and 33 were injured when terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying pilgrims, causing it to fall into a gorge. The bus was heading from Shiv Khori, a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, to the town of Katra.

Despite the tragic nature of the incident, it has not received significant attention from Bollywood celebrities or major media influencers. This contrasts sharply with the recent “All Eyes On Rafah” campaign, which garnered widespread coverage and support from Bollywood stars. The lack of response from influential figures in the industry raises questions about selective activism and the criteria that drive their public engagement.

One survivor of the attack shared their harrowing experience: “There were 6-7 terrorists with masks. They surrounded the bus and kept firing even after it fell into the gorge. We stayed silent, pretending to be dead.” Local police and residents arrived to rescue the injured, highlighting the bravery and resilience of the local community.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading a massive search operation to find the terrorists involved, employing drones and forensic teams.

While the incident underscores the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region, the silence from Bollywood’s biggest influencers is notable. Given their vast reach and impact, a vocal stance from these celebrities could bring much-needed attention and support to the victims and their families. The discrepancy in response prompts a broader discussion on the role of celebrities in addressing and advocating for social and national issues.
