Bihar Election Results 2025: Khesari Lal Yadav Trails Behind as Chhoti Kumari Takes the Early Lead

The counting for the Bihar Assembly Election started at 8 am on Friday. All eyes are on Bhojpuri star and RJD candidate Khesari Lal Yadav, who is contesting from the Chapra constituency. Early trends show a tight fight, but Khesari is currently trailing behind the BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari.

According to initial numbers reported by The Times of India, BJP’s Chhoti Kumari has taken the lead with 5,840 votes, while Khesari Lal Yadav stands at 4,213 votes. The gap has widened as counting progresses, signalling a tough road ahead for the RJD candidate.

Chapra, located in Bihar’s Saran district, holds a complex voter mix. The constituency is dominated by the Yadav voters and Rajput voters. There is also a significant share of Muslim and OBC voters. In the 2020 Assembly Election, BJP’s Dr. C. N. Gupta defeated RJD’s Randhir Kumar Singh by 6,771 votes, making Chapra a closely watched seat once again.

Chhoti Kumari is contesting from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). Chhoti is 35-year-old and she is a 12th pass candidate who considers social service as her only profession. She believes in doing social work and she rightly does so. According to a report by The Hindu, her declared income is Rs. 13.5 lakh. She has no criminal record and reportedly owns assets worth around Rs. 1.4 crore, with no liabilities. Her clean profile and grassroots engagement have drawn strong support within the constituency.

The other contenders who are currently leading are- RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav is leading from Raghopur, while BJP’s Samrat Choudhary is ahead in Tarapur. BJP’s Maithili Thakur is also leading from Alinagar, along with JD(U)’s Vijar Kumar Choudhary and Shrawon Kumar, who are ahead in Sarairanjan and Nalanda, respectively. These early results reflect a mixed political landscape across Bihar.

The contest between Khesari Lal Yadav and Chhoti Kumari has become one of the most watched and talked about battle of his Bihar Elections. Khesari being a giant in front of Chhoti Kumari was expected to win with a big margin but the early lead suggests that we could be seeing a miracle. With hours of counting still left, the final outcome could take several twists.
