Shefali Jariwala Death: Story Behind How She Got ‘Kaanta Laga’ MV Is Nothing But Beautiful

The sudden death of Kaanta Laga star Shefali Jariwala has shocked the film and TV industry. As fans mourn her loss, director Vinay Sapru shared how Shefali got her big break, and it sounds like a movie scene itself.

In an interview with India Today, Vinay said he and his wife Radhika spotted Shefali on a scooter in Mumbai. She was riding behind her mother. Something about her presence made them stop and take notice.

Vinay said, “We were driving down Linking Road in Bandra. A scooter passed us, and riding it was a mother with a young girl hugging her from behind. We both looked at each other and said - What a pretty girl.”

They stopped the scooter and gave Shefali a visiting card, inviting her to audition. He added, “It felt like it was meant to be." That one moment led her to become the face of Kaanta Laga, one of the most iconic music videos of the early 2000s.

Vinay said Shefali stayed humble even after gaining fame. He said, “She never complained about not getting more work. She was just in our office 20 days ago.”

She came in with cookies from her favourite Japanese bakery and spoke with excitement about what she wanted to do next. “She told me - The first 20 years were great, now let’s plan the next 20. She had so much energy and so many ideas. She was ready to take on the world.”

For the unversed, Shefali died on Friday night (June 28). Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai. Doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Reports suggest cardiac arrest, but the cause of death has not been confirmed. Her death has left fans and co-stars heartbroken. Many remember her as kind, lively, and full of warmth.

Shefali became a sensation with Kaanta Laga in 2002. She later appeared in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. She also made her mark on TV, featuring in Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye with Parag Tyagi.
