Rohit Chandel POCSO Case Update: ‘Married’, ‘Businessman’ Entries Bring Fresh Trouble For Sairaab Actor

Rohit Chandel’s POCSO case has taken a fresh turn nearly two months after his arrest. A new report has highlighted discrepancies in the records linked to the case, with his lawyer saying the issues have affected his bail proceedings and professional life.

Rohit Chandel was arrested on July 10, 2026, by Mumbai Police following allegations involving a 16-year-old girl. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to ABP, Rohit’s occupation was listed as “businessman” in the chargesheet, although he works as an actor. His religion was also reportedly recorded as Muslim. However, his arrest form reportedly identified him as a “Hindu Rajput.”

Another discrepancy concerns his marital status. His medical records reportedly listed him as “married,” while Rohit has maintained that he is single. He reportedly told authorities that he lives alone and is unmarried.

These details have become part of the latest development in the case. ABP reported that the inconsistencies were noted during the legal proceedings and reportedly contributed to the rejection of his first bail application.

Rohit’s lawyer, Saveena Bedi Sachar, told ABP that the incorrect marital status had affected his bail proceedings. She said, “My client, Rohit Chandel, was incorrectly recorded as ‘married’ in the medical report even though he is unmarried. This incorrectly recorded information has had an impact on my client and has also affected his bail proceedings.”

Saveena further claimed that the prolonged legal proceedings have taken a serious toll on Rohit’s professional life. She said the actor has lost work opportunities while remaining in custody.

“Rohit’s work opportunities and livelihood have been affected, and his reputation has suffered serious damage.”

Rohit has remained in custody since his arrest. The next hearing in the POCSO case is scheduled for September 4, 2026.

Rohit Chandel is a television actor from Shahada in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district. He began his TV career in 2014 with Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal.

He later appeared in shows such as Chandragupta Maurya, Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Pandya Store. He played Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store. His other credits include Escaype Live.

Before his arrest, Rohit was seen as Ishaan in StarPlus’ Sairaab. Makers replaced him with actor Krishna Kaul after the arrest incident.
