Sameer Rizvi Shines As DC Beat MI by 6 Wickets and Top IPL Table

New Delhi (India) April 4: In an exciting clash, the Delhi Capitals emerged victorious against the Mumbai Indians, topping the IPL 2026 points table with a convincing 6-wicket win. Sameer Rizvi shone brightly for DC, scoring a brilliant 90 runs to help chase down a target of 163 runs.

The Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first, putting the Mumbai Indians on the back foot right from the start. The opening partnership struggled, managing only 18 runs before Mukesh Kumar struck twice, dismissing Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma in quick succession. However, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship, forming a crucial partnership that brought some hope to MI fans. Together, they added 53 runs before a spectacular catch by Nitish Rana sent Rohit back to the dugout.

With Rohit gone, Yadav continued to fight for runs, pushing the team toward a respectable total. The Delhi bowlers recognized the threat posed by Yadav but just when it seemed Suryakumar might take control, the Capitals struck again, sending him back to the pavilion. Despite Naman Dhir’s efforts, the wickets kept tumbling, and MI finished with a total of 162/6 after their 20 overs.

Delhi Capitals faced a shaky start in their chase, but Rizvi and Pathum Nissanka steadied the innings, putting together a solid 66-run partnership for the third wicket. After Nissanka’s dismissal, the pressure was on, but Rizvi stood firm. He played a sensational innings of 90 runs, and when he finally walked off the field, the Capitals needed just 12 runs to secure the win. David Miller and Tristan Stubbs guided the team to victory and marked their second win of the IPL 2026 campaign.

With this win, Delhi Capitals now sit at the top of the points table with 4 points. They will return home for their next match against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, April 8th, at 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians, with one win and one loss so far, will regroup and prepare to face the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Tuesday, April 7th, at 7:30 PM.
