‘They’ll Put Camera On Cleavage…’ Leaked Chat Claims Janhvi Kapoor Criticised South Industry, Decided To Do THIS

After being in the news for the controversy surrounding her character in Peddi, Janhvi Kapoor is once again grabbing headlines. Now, the alleged screenshots of her private conversations with a fan surfaced online. The unverified chats allegedly show Kapoor expressing discomfort over the way her character was portrayed in the Ram Charan-starrer.

The controversy comes at a time when Peddi is already facing criticism over the depiction of its female lead. While many social media users have reacted strongly to the alleged messages, there is currently no official confirmation that the chats were written by Janhvi Kapoor herself. Despite that, the screenshots have quickly gone viral.

According to screenshots shared by fan account @janhvi_kapoor_slays, the alleged conversations took place on Instagram in October 2025. In one of the messages, Janhvi Kapoor is allegedly seen discussing how certain scenes were filmed in Peddi.

The actress allegedly claimed that the filmmakers would focus on revealing camera angles. She also reportedly praised co-star Ram Charan for supporting her on set. Referring to the actor, she allegedly wrote that Ram had asked the director not to shoot such angles and described him as "sweet and the best man in the industry".

The screenshots also include another alleged message where Kapoor compared her experience with other actresses whose family members are often present on film sets.

She allegedly wrote: "But guys. Just imagine: see Sreeleela and all. Their mothers are on set. That makes such a difference. Maggi Massi is paavam. If papa comes, they'll pack up. Two extremes."

In the alleged conversation, Janhvi Kapoor reportedly expressed frustration about the way women are viewed and filmed in the industry.

The message reads: "They'll say close-up and put camera on your cleavage. You can't trust anything. I told Dad also after this I'll do Lee Sir's film. And no more south. I just don't relate to how they look at women. It's suffocating and enraging."

Despite the growing online discussion, neither Janhvi Kapoor nor her team has publicly responded to the viral screenshots. There has also been no independent verification confirming that the messages originated from the actress. As a result, the screenshots should be viewed as unverified claims.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is a sports action drama set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s. The film stars Ram Charan in the title role, while Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyamma. The ensemble cast also includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani, with music composed by A. R. Rahman.

While Ram Charan's performance has received praise from many viewers, the film has faced criticism for its pacing and portrayal of its female lead. Several audience members accused the makers of reducing Achiyamma to a largely decorative character and objectifying her through certain camera shots.

The backlash intensified over scenes that critics felt romanticised problematic behaviour. Social media users called out specific sequences involving Achiyamma and argued that they crossed the line between romance and consent.

The controversy became even bigger when Janhvi Kapoor briefly liked an Instagram post criticising the film's treatment of her character before later unliking it. Following widespread criticism, director Buchi Babu Sana publicly apologised and announced that controversial scenes would be modified.
