WATCH: Suriya Takes RJ Balaji For A Ride In His Newly Gifted SUV After Karuppu Success

Tamil superstar Suriya is celebrating the blockbuster success of Karuppu in style. After reportedly gifting special edition Mahindra BE6 Batman cars to key members of the film’s technical team, the actor has now gifted a brand-new luxury SUV to filmmaker-actor RJ Balaji.

The heartwarming gesture comes after Karuppu emerged as a massive commercial success, crossing the ₹340 crore mark at the worldwide box office and becoming the highest-grossing film of Suriya’s career.

On Friday, RJ Balaji took to Instagram to share a series of pictures and videos with Suriya. The photos captured the duo hugging and posing together, while one video showed Suriya personally driving Balaji around town in the newly gifted SUV.

The excitement was evident as Balaji explored the vehicle’s features and selected a radio station while the actor drove. In the video, Balaji can be heard thanking Suriya and expressing his happiness over the surprise gift.

Alongside the post, Balaji penned an emotional note reflecting on Suriya’s unwavering support throughout the making of Karuppu. He wrote that Suriya’s trust from the very beginning helped turn a dream into reality and credited the superstar for changing his life. Balaji also described Karuppu as a journey that began with a promise and ultimately transformed into a mega-blockbuster success.

The filmmaker further thanked Suriya for his trust, respect, and the strong relationship they have built over the course of the project.

Just before Balaji’s post went live, production house announced a major milestone for the film.

According to the production house, Karuppu has grossed more than ₹340 crore worldwide and has successfully entered its fifth week in theatres. The achievement makes it the biggest commercial success of Suriya’s career.

The film’s phenomenal run has also given the actor a much-needed blockbuster after the underwhelming box office performances of Kanguva and Retro.

Interestingly, RJ Balaji had recently found himself at the center of controversy when he revealed that Karuppu was initially conceived for actor Vijay. During an interaction, Balaji credited Vijay for “starting it all,” a statement that triggered backlash from a section of Suriya’s fanbase.

Despite the controversy, the film’s success appears to have strengthened the bond between Balaji and Suriya, as evidenced by the actor’s generous gesture.

Karuppu began streaming on June 12. The film is available in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, while the Telugu version is streaming under the title Veerabhadrudu.

Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Suriya, Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, Natty Subramaniam, Sshivada, Swasika, and Supreeth Reddy in key roles.

The story revolves around Karuppusamy, a revered guardian deity who is challenged by a corrupt lawyer named Baby Kannan. The conflict forces him to deliver justice without relying on divine powers or corruption. While the film received mixed critical reviews, audiences widely appreciated its performances and emotional core, helping it become one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year.
