Kantara: Chapter 1 is an upcoming Indian Kannada-language mythological action drama film written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films. A prequel to the 2022 film Kantara, the story delves deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. The film has a great supporting cast, which features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah. The film is all set to be released in multiple languages, including English, on 2nd October 2025. 

Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the film is expected to explore the ancient roots of the Bhuta Kola ritual and the mythological lore surrounding divine land guardianship. Like its predecessor, the sequel would reportedly blend regional folklore, spirituality, and action, continuing the saga of man's relationship with nature and the divine. set during the reign of Kadambas of Banavasi. 

The trailer opens with a young Shiva seeking answers about his father’s disappearance during a Daiva Kola/Bhuta Kola ritual in the forest. His search unveils the story of his ancestors how they rose against oppression with divine intervention. Actor Gulshan Devaiah makes a striking appearance as a ruthless prince, while Rukmini Vasanth plays a princess whose love story with Shiva’s ancestor disrupts the established hierarchy. The final moments show Rishab Shetty’s character possessed by the Daiva Kola for the first time, setting the tone for an epic saga of power, faith, and rebellion.
