Satish Shah was an Indian Actor who used to act in Television Serials and Films. Satish is widely recognized for his iconic role of Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He was best known for his comic roles in films including Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Fanaa (2006) and Om Shanti Om (2007) and Bhootnath (2008). Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 due to Kidney failure issues. 

Satish Shah was born on 25 June 1951 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to father Ravilal Shah. Satish belonged to a Gujarati family, his hometown is Mandvi, Kutch, Gujarat. 

Satish Shah was a distinguished Indian actor whose career spanned over four decades, earning him a cherished place in both Indian cinema and television. He began his journey in theatre before transitioning to films and television. Shah gained widespread recognition for his role as Indravadan Sarabhai in the popular sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He also delivered memorable performances in films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Bhootnath, Judwaa, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. His versatility was further showcased in the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where he portrayed 55 different characters across its 55 episodes. In 2020, Shah tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He was discharged after a week and expressed gratitude towards the medical staff for his recovery. On October 25, 2025, Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. He was found unresponsive at his residence and was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he was declared dead. His demise has left a significant void in the Indian entertainment industry, and he is survived by his wife, designer Madhu Shah. 

Satish Shah went to St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai, later on he completed his graduation from Film Institute of India. 

Satish Shah had been married to wife Madhu Shah in 1972.

Satish Shah had a height of 5’10 inches and he weighed 91 kilograms. He had grey coloured hairs and black coloured eyes.

He gained widespread recognition for his iconic roles in the cult classic film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983) and the beloved television sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), where he portrayed the quirky Indravadan Sarabhai. Shah’s journey began in sports before transitioning to the performing arts, where his talent led him to theatre and formal film training. His seamless shift from stage to screen showcased his broad range and enduring appeal. He was well respected not just for his talent but also for his contributions to shaping Indian television and cinema. In 2008, he co-judged Comedy Circus with Archana Puran Singh. In 2015, he was also appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society.
