Ethan Hawke Returns as The Ghost Grabber in Terrifying Sequel ‘The Black Phone 2’ — Evil Calls Again

Universal Pictures India (Warner Bros. Discovery) once again unveils the eagerly awaited sequel, The Black Phone 2. Four years after that first gruesome phone call, the nightmare returns as the telephone continues to ring. Ethan Hawke, a four-time Academy Award nominee also returns as his most malevolent role yet – The Grabber - when the film is released in cinemas on 17th October.

From master of terror Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill and based on Joe Hill’s chilling short story, Black Phone 2 picks up four years after 13-year-old Finn escaped from his abductor and become the only survivor of the Grabber. But true evil never dies, and the phone rings again.

Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke is back in his most diabolical role to date, as the Grabber -- a character hell-bent on exacting revenge on Finn (Mason Thames) for making him look bad—by tormenting his little sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw). As Finn, who is 17 and grappling with putting his life back together, comes undone in the turbulence of the scandal surrounding them, Gwen begins to receive haunting calls in her dreams and visions of boys hunted at Alpine Lake — a secluded winter camp on her mind. Gwen is determined to stop the horror, convinced the answer lies within the tormented soul fifi in Ragnarock’s thrall, and she demands Finn be involved…Together they head straight into the heart of a storm as they uncover one killer more deadly than any who has come before, along with his disturbing legacy.

The Ghost Grabber (again Ethan Hawke), a sadistic child killer who kept his victims in a soundproof basement, is back. In thinking about the film and its themes, Hawke mused, “Ghost stories always seem to me less about the dead than the living.

They’re about what survives when someone is gone, whether that’s remorse or rage or love — or something else. “The Black Phone was about two kids who went through a living nightmare; Black Phone 2 is about how hard it is to come back from that kind of violence. The Ghost Grabber is all those unspeakable memories that, no matter how much you move on, will still keep popping back into your life.”
