Paritosh Tripathi Says Kamal Haasan Brings Him ‘Back To Reality’ Every Time

In a recent episode of The Filmy Charcha Podcast, host Rahul Varun sat with Paritosh Tripathi for an emotional conversation where during the discussion, the actor, poet, writer and television host spoke about the people who inspired him, the actors he admires and why he believes growth never stops for an artist.

When Rahul Varun asked whether he had any acting inspirations, Paritosh Tripathi replied, "Bilkul rahe hain. Bahut saare actor." He explained that before entering the industry, a person with only one favourite actor is usually a fan, while someone inspired by many artists may become an artist. He said, "Mera koi ek pin point nahi hai," adding humorously that he was never the kind of fan who remembers "date of birth, kutte ka number, patta ya kaunsi baniyan pehnte hain." Instead, he admired performers for their journeys and craft.

Speaking about acting, the actor shared, "Jab jab lagta hai ki main bahut badhiya acting karta hoon, toh main Kamal Haasan ji ki acting dekh leta hoon aur hum apni aukaat mein aa jaate hain." and also mentioned Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi and Irrfan Khan. He said , "Hum Manoj Vajpayee ji ko dekh lete hain, hum Pankaj bhaiya ko dekh lete hain, unki sahajta ko, Irrfan sahab ko dekhte the." According to him, these artists remind him that acting is limitless and that more hard work is always needed.

The conversation then moved towards writing, where he made another surprising admission. "Jab mujhe lagta hai ki bahut achhi kavita likh di maine, main apne ghar mein apni badi behen ko padh leta hoon, apne bade bhai ko padh leta hoon." He further added, "Mere ghar mein main sabse kamzor writer hoon, sabse ekdum ausat writer hoon." He praised his elder brother and elder sister, mentioning that his sister is a professor at JNU and writes exceptionally well.

While discussing mentors and inspiration, he jokingly paused and said, "Guru aisa kuch... aisa lag raha hai baba na ho jaun." Behind the humour was a serious message. He suggested that learning never ends and that every artist should continue observing others rather than believing they know everything.

Ending the discussion with a thoughtful observation, he said, "Sahajta ki acting nahi ho sakti aur der tak nahi ho sakti." Explaining further, he remarked, "Aadmi pakda jayega ki main vinamr hoon, main vinamr hoon." Using a light example, he added, "10 minute tak tumne pani puri boli aur na aaye toh vinamrata tumhari palat jaati hai." For him, genuine simplicity cannot be performed forever because eventually a person's real nature comes out.
