“Give Me a Chair, Bat and Ball, I’ll Play”: Tanuj Virwani on His Love for Cricket

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 27: Tanuj Virwani recently joined Rahul Varun on The Filmy Charcha Podcast. He spoke openly about his latest project Rana Naidu and his journey through the film industry. The conversation was part of the podcast titled Tanuj Virwani Unfiltered: Rana Naidu, Career Fears & Industry Truth. Tanuj talked about his early struggles, breakthrough in Inside Edge, and how he is still learning every day. From big studios to packed shooting schedules, his insights gave listeners a clear view of life behind the glamour of Bollywood.

Rahul asked how actors relax during serious shoots, and Tanuj quickly replied, “Cricket comes naturally to me. I can play anywhere—put a plastic chair, bring a bat and ball, and we’re ready.” He added that the Rana Naidu set was usually chill, except when the shift was about to end. “Nobody wants overtime or budget issues,” he shared. “So yes, pressure comes in the last hour. But overall, it was a happy and focused environment where fun and work stayed together.”

Tanuj opened up about the challenges of working under multiple directors. He said, “On Rana Naidu, I was not reporting to just one person. There were three—Abhay Chopra, Suparn Verma, and Karan Anshuman.” According to him, each had a different style, and he had to keep his character steady for the audience. “The viewers see the show as one story. They don’t know who directed which scene. So it’s the actor’s job to stay consistent.” His experience with Inside Edge helped him manage such situations well.

Being the son of actress Rati Agnihotri, Tanuj could have followed an easier route, but he chose to earn his place. He faced box office failures, tried multiple roles, and worked across formats. His cricket-based web series Inside Edge helped him connect with audiences. Tanuj believes in growing with every project and always thanks his team for support. His focus stays on preparation, respect for seniors, and keeping his performance sharp, no matter how big or small the role is.

Tanuj made his debut with Luv U Soniyo (2013) and later appeared in Purani Jeans and One Night Stand. In 2024, he was seen in Yodha, and Let’s Meet in 2025. On TV, he joined Box Cricket League and hosted MTV Splitsvilla 15. His web series work includes Poison, Code M, Cartel, and Murshid. With a mix of thrillers, dramas, and romantic projects, Tanuj continues to show range and strength across the screen, growing step-by-step with every performance.
