Comedian Samay Raina has finally broken his silence on the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent. In his latest special video, the comedian revisited the turbulent phase that led to the show being taken down, calling it one of the most difficult moments of his life.

Back in 2025, India’s Got Latent had become a massive success, dominating social media and gaining nationwide attention. However, things took a drastic turn after a controversial remark by guest Ranveer Allahbadia sparked outrage.

The controversy began when Ranveer made an inappropriate comment during the show, which quickly went viral. The backlash was immediate, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against the show’s organisers, including Samay himself.

The situation escalated to the point where the show had to be taken down entirely from YouTube.

Recalling the incident, Samay shared how emotionally devastating the moment was for him.

He revealed that the show had a massive reach, with around 4 crore unique viewers watching it every month. Despite its popularity, he was forced to remove all episodes.

“I had to take down the entire show overnight. I built it with a lot of passion. It broke me like anything,” he said.

Samay further explained that he initially resisted taking the show down. However, things changed when authorities took strict action.

According to him, while he was in the US, he received a call from the Mumbai Police asking him to remove all episodes immediately. When he refused, citing freedom of speech, his video editor was arrested.

This forced him to comply and delete the show.

Following the backlash, both Samay and Ranveer issued public apologies. The controversy had already attracted criticism from several public figures and organisations.

In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, Samay clarified that he never intended to offend anyone. He also assured that he would be more responsible with his content going forward.

He stated that he is committed to creating content that is “inclusive and sensitive,” while also maintaining legal compliance in the future.

The India’s Got Latent controversy marked a major turning point in Samay Raina’s career. From being at the peak of success to facing legal trouble and emotional distress, the incident highlighted the risks that come with viral content in today’s digital age.
