Rajpal Yadav Slams Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Rania Over India's Got Latent Row

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, January 13: The ongoing issue around the YouTube series India's Got Latent led actor Rajpal Yadav to share his deep worry. Following comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia that caused great outrage, the show faced backlash.

Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav, who is recognised for his hilarious roles, stated his discomfort with the content, stressing how important it is for maintaining the integrity of art.

Police action sparked important condemnation of Allahbadia's abusive and demeaning comments on the broadcast. Yadav expressed his disapproval of the content and marked the situation "embarrassing" in a video message.

Such videos are too embarrassing to view. Our country is a cultural nation. Viewing such films makes me feel embarrassed," Yadav remarked. Yadav spoke against the risks of using art to achieve short-lived celebrity and further rejected the quest for "cheap popularity" among younger generations

"What is happening in the process of getting this cheap popularity for our younger generation?" he said.

The actor also considered the more serious consequences of such events. "I have always felt proud to be an artist. But it is said that when a peacock is very happy, he dances alone in the jungle with his wings spread out, but when he looks at his feet, he cries. Watching such people gives us a feel of the peacock," he said.

Yadav also highlighted the need for artists and influencers to take on more responsibility. "Counseling is very important that at least you do not make art such a toy so that people start hating art," he said, adding, "Respect yourself, respect your parents, respect every society, respect the whole country, and respect the whole world."

The show is a victim of a case brought by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. "A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people. A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6," the Cyber Cell stated.

Many involved in India's Got Latent are being questioned as part of the probe, including presenter Samay Raina, influencers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Ranveer Allahbadia.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) condemned Allahbadia's comments as "disrespectful" and "abhorrent" to social norms in a statement. The AICWA demanded that performers and filmmakers remove themselves from the program and its creators and asked for a ban on India's Got Latent.

"We call upon all actors, filmmakers, directors, and technicians to immediately cease any collaboration with individuals involved in this show, including host Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia," the AICWA stated in a statement.

Following the commotion, Ranveer Allahbadia apologised in public for his remarks. He admitted that what he had said was improper. "My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry," Allahbadia said in a video shared on his social media account. "Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect," he added.

Also, Allahbadia asked that the offensive parts of India's Got Latent be cut out of the show. "I have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections from the video. All I can say in the end is sorry, I hope you can forgive me as a human being," he concluded.

The Guwahati Crime Branch filed a formal complaint (FIR) against a number of the show's creators and influencers. Charges pertaining to obscenity and the defence of women's dignity are included in the FIR. Authorities are interrogating a number of people connected to the show as part of the ongoing investigation.
