Bobby Deol Opens Up About Waiting to Shoot Animal

Bobby Deol, who played the role of Abrar Haque in Animal, recently shared about his experience in working on the film. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, he revealed that he had to wait for over a year to start shooting for the film. Deol expressed his concerns during this waiting period by saying, “I began to worry that maybe I wasn’t needed anymore since Ranbir Kapoor was shooting for so long.”

How It All Started

Bobby Deol recounted how he was approached for the role. “I received a message from Ranbir Kapoor. He introduced himself and said he wanted to meet me for a film. I was initially skeptical, thinking, ‘Is this really him?’ But after a meeting where he showed me a photo from the Celebrity Cricket League and told me he liked my expression, I knew it was genuine,” Deol shared.

The Waiting Game

He mentioned, “I waited 1.5 years to start filming. The film is 3.5 hours long, so they spent a lot of time shooting Ranbir’s parts. During this time, I often wondered if they might decide they didn’t need me anymore. But Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director, was great. I even learned sign language for the role. It was an exciting process, and although I didn’t expect it to become a cult hit, I had a good feeling about it.”
