Thamma Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Film Scores Big on Day 1, Collects THIS Much Crore

One of the most anticipated films of 2025 was Maddock Films' Thamma, which film finally released during Diwali. The horror comedy film features Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film was riding on high expectations as it is a part of Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Let us take a look at how it is performing on its first day in theatres.

As per the trade analyst Sacnilk, Thamma collected ₹24.87 crore on Tuesday, its release day. The film has released largely unchallenged. The only other release this Diwali was Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. The Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s film also fared well at the box office. The last big Hindi theatrical release was Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which faced stiff competition from Kannada release Kantara Chapter 1.

However, Thamma’s opening fell short of the previous Maddock Horror Comedy Universe film, Stree 2, which opened at ₹35 crore last year. It is also less than what Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 managed last Diwali. The Kartik Aaryan-led horror comedy opened at ₹32 crore despite stiff competition from Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer Singham Again. 

Thamma marks the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) created by producer Dinesh Vijan. However, beyond its quirky thrills and laughs, Thamma brought along a major surprise announcement, the next MHCU movie titled Shakti Shalini, starring Saiyaara fame actress Aneet Padda in the lead role. The film will be released on 24 December 2026. 

The film explores the lore of vampires. The film focuses on Ayushmann Khurrana as a man who suddenly becomes a vampire. He then falls in love with Rashmika Mandanna, but their romance soon faces challenges. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the film is described as a bloody love story.

Thamma has started really well, and it is expected to carry the momentum in the coming days as it will enjoy a healthy holiday weekend. The horror comedy genre, big surprise cameos, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s chemistry, and everything else make Thamma a must-watch family entertainer during this Diwali.
