Yash’s Toxic To Lock Horns With Eetha - Will Maddock Films Postpone Shraddha Kapoor Starrer?

Yash’s much-awaited action drama Toxic is finally heading to theatres, but its latest release date has sparked a fresh box office battle. The Geetu Mohandas directorial is now scheduled to release on August 26, taking advantage of the festive period around Onam and Raksha Bandhan. However, the announcement has also put Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha and Sidharth Malhotra’s Vvan in a tricky position.

The teaser of Eetha recently generated strong buzz after it played alongside Cocktail 2 in cinemas. The film has been receiving positive reactions and fans were excited about its August release. But with Toxic arriving just days earlier, industry insiders believe Maddock Films may rethink its strategy. Meanwhile, Vvan is also set for August 28, setting up a rare and interesting clash involving real-life couple Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra.

After facing multiple delays, the makers of Toxic confirmed the new release date on Father's Day. The film was earlier expected to arrive on March 19 and later June 4, but both plans were pushed back.

Now, with August 26 locked, Toxic is set to enjoy a long festive holiday window. The scale and anticipation surrounding the Yash starrer have made it one of the biggest pan-India releases of the year.

This has raised questions about whether Maddock Films will stick to the planned release dates of Eetha and Vvan. While Eetha has already created strong excitement, there has been no fresh update from the makers of Vvan regarding the possible clash.

Industry insiders feel a postponement remains a possibility, though an official announcement is still awaited.

Toxic was initially supposed to hit theatres in March alongside Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The release was later pushed due to the tense situation in Gulf countries. Another date, June 4, was announced but the film failed to make that deadline as well.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by the filmmaker along with Yash, Toxic boasts a star-studded cast. Besides Yash, the film features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.

Shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, the film will also release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Vvan is a mythological folk thriller starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. The story follows a rational city man who returns to his ancestral village and dismisses age-old traditions as superstition.

His actions lead him into a forbidden forest, where he unknowingly awakens an ancient divine force. Faced with powers beyond human understanding, he transforms from a sceptic into the unlikely protector of his village.

The film was announced for an August 28 release earlier this year, though the makers have remained silent since then.

Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha is an emotional biographical drama based on the life of legendary Lavani artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, often called Maharashtra's "Queen of Tamasha."

The film traces her remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a cultural icon between the 1940s and 1990s. It highlights her immense sacrifices, struggles and extraordinary resilience.

One of the most astonishing episodes from her life, where she reportedly gave birth backstage during a performance and returned to the stage to complete the show, is expected to be among the film's emotional highlights.
