Why Did Ramayana Actor Adinath Kothare Divorce Urmila Kanetkar After 15 Years Of Marriage?

Adinath Kothare has confirmed that he and actress Urmila Kanetkar have decided to end their marriage after nearly 15 years together. The couple shared the news through a joint statement on social media, putting an end to months of speculation about trouble in their relationship. They said the decision was mutual and asked everyone to respect their privacy.

The announcement comes at a time when Adinath Kothare is preparing for the release of Ramayana: Part 1, where he plays a crucial role. While fans were surprised by the personal update, the actor made it clear that he and Urmila will continue to work together as parents for the sake of their daughter, Jizah.

In their statement, Adinath Kothare revealed that the couple decided to separate because of irreconcilable differences. He stressed that the decision was made mutually and with careful thought. 

The statement read, "After much thought and consideration, Urmilla Kanetkar and I, Addinath M. Kothare, have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as partners."

The couple got married in December 2011 and spent more than 14 years together before deciding to go their separate ways.

Even though their marriage has ended, Adinath Kothare said both of them remain committed to raising their daughter together.

He wrote, "While our journey as a couple has ended, our commitment to our daughter, Jizah, remains absolute. She is our utmost priority. We are happily and dedicatedly co-parenting her to ensure she grows up surrounded by love, security, and support."

The actor also said that he and Urmila continue to have deep respect for each other despite ending their relationship.

The statement thanked fans, well-wishers, and the media for supporting them over the years. At the same time, the couple requested privacy as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

The statement concluded, "In this spirit, we kindly request our friends in the media and the public to respect our privacy. This will be our only statement on this matter, and we will not be commenting further. Thank you for your continued warmth and understanding."

Rumours about their marriage had been circulating for several months after the two stopped sharing photos together on social media. Although Urmila had earlier dismissed the speculation, the latest statement has now officially confirmed their separation.

On the professional front, Adinath Kothare is set to appear in Ramayana: Part 1, one of the biggest Indian films in recent years. According to reports, he will be seen playing Bharata in the epic.

The film's trailer is expected to be released on July 24, 2026, and fans are eagerly waiting to see the actor in his mythological role.
