Varun Dhawan, Dinesh Vijan In Talks For Mythical Horror-Comedy Before Bhediya 2?

Varun Dhawan is gearing up for another supernatural ride, but it’s not Bhediya 2, at least not yet. According to the latest updates, the actor is in advanced talks with producer Dinesh Vijan for a new standalone mythical horror-comedy. The project is expected to blend spooky vibes with humour and is likely to take off before the much-awaited Bhediya sequel.

Varun and Dinesh have already built a solid working relationship. They’ve delivered films like Badlapur and Bhediya, and Varun also made cameo appearances in Maddock Films’ recent hits Munjya and Stree 2. Their latest collaboration aims to explore a fresh genre, stepping away from sequels and shared universes.

While Bhediya 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, is still on the cards, production has been delayed. Until then, Varun and Vijan are focusing on the new horror-comedy, which is described as a one-of-a-kind film with elements of mythology and comedy.

Sources told Pinkvilla that the mytho-horror film leads a list of three scripts the duo is discussing. It will not be connected to the existing Maddock horror-comedy universe and won’t serve as a follow-up to any past films. Instead, it will be a standalone title, offering something completely new to the audience. The final call on the project will be taken by July, as talks are still in early stages.

Casting is underway, with the female lead yet to be confirmed. If all goes according to plan, the makers are aiming to start production by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Varun’s slate is jam-packed. He is currently filming Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father David Dhawan. He will then head straight to Border 2, where he stars alongside Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The actor also has No Entry 2, directed by Anees Bazmee, lined up next.
