Triptii Dimri on Dhadak 2: “Karan Sir Called Me—It Was an Instant Yes After Watching Bebaak!”

Mumbai(Maharashtra)[India] July 16: In a recent press conference, Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi shared their thoughts on their upcoming release Dhadak 2, a spiritual sequel of 2018 release Dhadak. The original 2018 release Dhadak starred Ishaan Khattar and Jahanvi Kapoor in lead roles. Triptii Dimri was asked how she got the role in the film. Triptii revealed it candidly, that it was Karan Johar who called her.

Triptii Dimri was asked, "How Did You Land the Role in Dhadak 2?" Dharma Productions' Dhadak was released in 2018. The original film starred debutant Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar. The OG Dhadak was a hit at box office. Since the anouncement of Dhadak 2, everyone was wondering who will be leading in the movie. When it was revealed that Triptii will play the role of upper class female lead in the movie, everyone wanted to know behind the scenes story. Triptii is quite talented and had proved this in her previous films but the story behind getting Dhadak 2 is worth knowing.

Triptii Dimri answered, "One day, I got a call from Karan Sir. He told me about filmmaker Shazia Iqbal, who had made a short film called Bebaak. He asked me to watch it and meet her if I liked it. I watched it—and I loved it. The next day, I met Shazia and our writer Rahul. The narration was amazing, and I genuinely had a great time. Even after the narration ended, we kept discussing the film and its vision. For me, it was an instant yes—not something I needed two days to think about. Shazia was incredibly strong as a director, and she proved it through this film."

Triptii Dimri's career started with films like Mom, Poster Boys, Laila Majnu, Bulbbul and Qala. Although Triptii was praised much for her performance in Laila Majnu, Bulbbul and Qala, but she gained fame with her 2023 release, Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandana starrer Animal. She gained fame as "Bhabhi No. 2" for that film. After it, she has been doing commercial films like Bad Newz, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Bhool Bhulaiya 3 and now Dhadak 2. She will also be seen in Arjun Ustara. The film is currently in filming stage.

Dhadak 2 was first meant to hit theatres on 22 November 2024. But it got delayed to 21 February 2025, and again to 1 August 2025. Issues with CBFC clearance and post-production caused the postponements. Now, the Dhadak 2 team is ready for the final release. Fans have been waiting from a long time. This long gap has only made the buzz stronger around Triptii's upcoming film.
