Takht To Dostana 2, Big Bollywood Movies That Got Shelved

A lot of movies these days are getting shelved due to “creative differences” in the team. Usually these high budget movies cause the pockets of producers to burn when it gets shelved.

Takht

Takht was one of the dream projects of filmmaker Karan Johar. The movie was announced in 2020 but was later shelved. The reason for shelving this highly anticipated movie was that the team was having hard time in sorting out their creative differences and be on the same page. Takht was a historical drama and the cast included Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and many more.

Dostana 2

Dostana 2 created a lot of buzz when it was announced and created way more buzz when it got shelved. The cast of Dostana 2 was going to feature Kartik Aryan, Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor. The movie was set to be directed by Collin D’Cunha and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and Apoorva Mehta. It was going to be distributed by Yash Raj Films, Searchlight Pictures and UTV Motion Pictures. Kartik Aryan’s unprofessional behavior was said to be the reason of not going to be the part of the film. It was later announced that the film is shelved.

The Immortal Ashwatthama

Aditya Dhar’s directorial movie ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ was going to feature Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan. There have been two reasons for the movie getting shelved. One being budget constraints, as Aditya Dhar’s vision for the movie needed big budget and the second reason was continuous delays by some reason or the other that ultimately led the movie to get shelved.

Karna

Karna was a mythological epic which was to be made by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It was going to feature Suriya in the role of Karna and Janhvi Kapoor in the role of Draupadi. It was also going to feature Ali Fazal, Vijay Verma, and Avinash Tiwari. It was said to be made on a high budget of Rs. 350 crores. The film was going to be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other languages. The reason for Karna getting shelved is still unknown.

Inshallah

Inshallah was going to be a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie but got shelved days before the movie was set to go on floor for production. The movie was going to feature Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. It was going to be produced by Jayantilal Gada. Gada said that the movie – Inshallah got shelved because of creative differences between Bhansali and Salman. Jayantilal Gada said, “Yes, we had started work on that film. However, I believe Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan had some creative differences. I don’t know exactly as we don’t get into such matters. So, that got shelved and Gangubai Kathiawadi went on floors.”
