Son Of Sardaar 2: CBFC Removes China President’s Mention, Replaces ‘Item’ And ‘Kutte Ki Tarah’ - Check Runtime!

Son Of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, is finally hitting theatres this Friday, August 1. Known for its over-the-top humour and desi action, the film is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and produced by Devgn Films and Jio Studios. It was originally set to release on July 25, but the makers decided to push it back by a week. Why? To avoid clashing with Saiyaara, which turned out to be a surprise blockbuster.

The censor process for Son Of Sardaar 2 was already completed by July 16. But with Saiyaara raking in huge numbers since its release on July 18 (over Rs 400 crore globally), the delay was a smart move. The makers didn’t want two big films to split audiences in the same week.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted Son Of Sardaar 2 a U/A 13+ certificate. While no visual cuts were made, a few dialogues were edited.

Here are the changes made:

1. The name of China’s President Xi Jinping was muted.
2. The word “item” was changed to “madam”.
3. “Kutte ki tarah” was replaced with “Bahut buri tarah”.
4. A line starting with “Bhagwan…” and ending with “…Pe Lezim” was rewritten.

After these edits, the final runtime of the film stands at 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 32 seconds (147.32 minutes).

To attract more viewers, the makers rolled out a special 50% discount on opening day tickets via BookMyShow. Advance bookings began on Tuesday night, and fans have already started grabbing the offer.

However, Son Of Sardaar 2 is walking into a tight release window. It will not only go up against Saiyaara, still doing strong business in its third week, but will also face competition from War 2. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, War 2 hits cinemas on August 14 and is one of the most hyped films of the year.

Apart from Ajay Devgn, the comedy film features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Panday, Sharat Saxena, Vindu Dara Singh, Roshni Walia, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, and the late Mukul Dev.

Ajay’s previous outing, Raid 2, did solid business with Rs 173.05 crore in India and Rs 237 crore globally. With Son Of Sardaar 2, expectations are high for another box office win. This film promises light-hearted fun, action, and classic Ajay Devgn charm. However, the buzz is low, and only word-of-mouth after release will decide the film's fate at the box office. Trailer and songs of the film haven't done so well, as fans had huge expectations from a superstar like Ajay Devgn and the sequel film.
