Sharmila Tagore Expresses Concern Over High Fees, Vanity Van Competition

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] December 17: The fact that many actors travel with "cooks, masseuses, and an entire entourage" and charge "huge amounts" has alarmed actress Sharmila Tagore. Sharmila also claimed that a "competition over the size of their vanity vans" among celebrities is discouraging performers from pursuing acting, in an interview with Indian Express' SCREEN Live.

In addition to charging exorbitant fees, she expressed worry that many performers travel with a whole entourage, including cooks and masseuses. While I was working on an advertisement, the makeup artist informed me that certain actors are currently competing with one another over the size of their vanity vehicles.

The main goals of vanity vans were seclusion and a cosy setting for getting ready. You now have spaces for meetings, relaxation, etc. Actors are being driven away from what really counts—the acting—by all of this. Making money is obviously crucial, but how would you know what appeals to the public if you were stepping away from reality?

For decades, Sharmila has enthralled audiences with her remarkable performances in timeless films such as Aradhana, Kashmir Ki Kali, and Amar Prem. She continues to inspire generations and be a timeless style icon despite her successful acting career. Sharmila wed Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, a cricket player. Their children are Saba Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan, and Saif Ali Khan.

Her most recent appearance was in Gulmohar, a Disney+ Hotstar film. Also in the Rahul V. Chittella-directed film were Suraj Sharma, Simran, and Manoj Bajpayee. Prior to Gulmohar, Sharmila starred alongside Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan in the 2010 film Break Ke Baad.

Outhouse, a touching film that will hit theatres on December 20, will mark Sharmila's big-screen comeback. Mohan Agashe, Sonali Kulkarni, Neeraj Kabi, and Sunil Abhayankar are among the cast members of the Sunil Sukthankar-directed movie.
