‘Salman Khan Arrest And Punishment Has Been Shown…’ Kala Hiran Movie Producer About His Movie On Black Buck Case

Producer Amit Jani has announced a film based on Salman Khan’s infamous blackbuck case. Titled Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy, the movie will reportedly explore the legal battle surrounding the actor as well as his alleged rivalry with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The announcement has already grabbed massive attention online due to the sensitive subject linked to Salman Khan.

The film is directed by Bharat S. Shrinate, who had earlier helmed the controversial movie Udaipur Files. Amit Jani shared the poster of Kala Hiran on X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed that the teaser of the film will release on June 20, 2026. While the makers have not yet revealed which actor will play Salman Khan in the movie, the project has already become one of the most talked-about upcoming films.

While speaking to IANS, producer Amit Jani opened up about the storyline of the film and the events shown in it. He said, "In 1998, in Kakani village of Jodhpur, in the case of the hunting of a black buck by Salman Khan, the drama of the courtroom, the crime, the thriller, the rivalry between Lawrence Bishnoi and Salman Khan, the whole sequence has been shot in the form of a movie. The film has been shot in Sambal, Moradabad, and other cities of Uttar Pradesh."

He further added, “Bollywood actors who had come to Jodhpur- Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Satish Shah, and other people- were together during the shooting. The hunting that took place at that time, Salman Khan’s arrest and the punishment have been shown in the film. And its poster was very much awaited. People were waiting for a long time for a cinematic story around Salman Khan, Lawrence Bishnoi and the case of deer hunting. On June 20, we are going to release the first look, the teaser."

The blackbuck poaching case dates back to 1998 during the shooting of Hum Saath-Saath Hain near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Salman Khan was accused of hunting endangered blackbucks in Kankani village. Members of the Bishnoi community, who consider blackbucks sacred, filed a complaint after the incident.

Apart from Salman Khan, actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari were also named in the case. After years of legal proceedings, a Jodhpur court convicted Salman Khan in 2018 and sentenced him to five years in prison. The other actors were acquitted due to lack of evidence. Salman later received bail, but the case continues to remain a highly sensitive issue.

Interestingly, Amit Jani’s previous production Udaipur Files had also landed in controversy before release. The film failed to perform well at the box office despite the attention it received online. Now, many are curious to see whether Kala Hiran will face a similar response.

The teaser release on June 20 is expected to give audiences their first glimpse into how the makers have portrayed Salman Khan’s blackbuck case on screen.
