Mirzapur The Movie Gets Big Day 2 Boost After Decent Opening, Set To Cross THIS Mark On Sunday

Mirzapur The Movie has picked up at the box office after a decent opening. The film recorded a notable rise on Saturday and is now within reach of a major India milestone.

The jump gives the film a stronger first weekend than its opening-day figure alone suggested. Sunday is now expected to take its domestic run past another key benchmark.

According to Sacnilk, Mirzapur The Movie earned Rs 25.75 crore net in India on Day 1. The collection increased to Rs 32 crore on Day 2, marking a 24.3% rise.

The film's two-day India net total stands at Rs 57.75 crore. It therefore needs Rs 22.25 crore on Sunday to cross Rs 80 crore.

The second-day trend looks particularly notable when compared with Toxic. Yash's action film opened much bigger but suffered a sharp decline on Saturday. Audience rejected it and poor word-of-mouth affected the film.

Toxic collected Rs 101.10 crore net on Day 1. Its Day 2 figure dropped to Rs 37.65 crore, a 62.8% fall. The collection declined again to Rs 27.20 crore on Day 3.

The film also faced a largely negative critical response after release. Its steep drops have raised questions about its ability to sustain the audience interest generated by its huge opening.

Mirzapur The Movie has shown the reverse trend so far. Its second-day business increased, giving it a stronger weekend trajectory despite starting from a much lower level.

Mirzapur The Movie takes the franchise's power struggle to the big screen. The story continues the battle for control of Mirzapur, with familiar rivals caught in another dangerous conflict.

Power and revenge remain central to the story. The film expands the world established by the series while bringing its key characters together for a theatrical chapter.

Gurmmeet Singh directs the movie, while Puneet Krishna serves as the writer. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produce it under Excel Entertainment, with Amazon MGM Studios also backing the project.

Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, with Ali Fazal playing Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. The cast also features Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sheeba Chaddha.

The film has a reported runtime of 3 hours and 17 minutes and carries an A certificate. It released in Hindi and Telugu on September 4.

Its budget has been reported at around Rs 250 crore, although the makers have not officially confirmed that figure.
