Kartik Aaryan Reveals How Lying to Kabir Khan Helped Him Land Chandu Champion Role

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] December 14: Kartik Aaryan, an actor, admitted to lying to get a part in a movie. He has acknowledged that he had lied about his swimming prowess to secure a part in Chandu Champion by impressing director Kabir Khan.

According to India Today, Kartik reflected on his performance in the Kabir Khan-directed movie Chandu Champion at a session at Agenda Aaj Tak 2024. He disclosed how he had lied about his swimming prowess to land the role.

Kartik was questioned if he had ever lied for a movie at one point during the discussion. When Kabir asked the actor if he could swim, he said that he did it for Chandu Champion.

"I had read the screenplay before and thought it was fantastic. I therefore lied and claimed to know how professional swimming works when Kabir Sir enquired. Actually, all I could accomplish was enough to stay afloat," he remarked.

Kartik trained diligently to conceal his deception and learn to swim, undergoing a significant physical makeover for the biopic part. He is shown swimming and receiving a medal for it in the movie.

He revealed that he had to put in a lot of rigorous training for a year and a half. Kartik quipped, "I lost a year and a half because I lied for one and a half minutes."

The film Chandu Champion tells the story of Murlikant Petkar, who was born in Maharashtra on November 1, 1944, and went on to become India's first Paralympic gold medallist. The movie followed his life's many stages and challenges. Petkar was a multi-sport star, particularly in hockey and wrestling. Additionally, Chandu Champion is Kartik and Kabir's first joint project. Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala are co-producers of the movie.

The movie didn't do well at the box office after its June 14 release.
