Isha Koppikar on Don 2 Sequel: Opens Up About Her Mixed Feelings, 'It Hurt Me at the Time'

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] December 4 : Isha Koppikar, starred in Farhan Akhtar’s Don (2006) against Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, recently spoke about her experience with the sequel. The actor shared her dissatisfaction in an interview, for not being included in the cast of the sequel Don 2: The King IS Back (2011), despite her love for the action-packed drama roles. 

Isha acknowledged Priyanka Chopra’s role as more crucial and influential, adding, “I would have given my left and right arm for it.” As a seasoned martial artist with 25 years of experience in Taekwondo, she belives her actions may have added value to the film. Yet, she accepted her part as it was, saying, “What’s done is done.”

Not being called back for the sequel stung at the time. Isha revealed she had reached out but was told the casting was already finalized. “It’s okay. You win some, you lose some,” she said, admitting she moved on, especially since the sequel didn’t match the first film’s success.

Don (2006) has reinterpreted 1987 hit of Chandra Barot, with Shah Rukh Khan playing the lead role. The film featured an ensemble cast, including Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, and Isha Koppikar, alongside the original’s iconic plot twists. Its sequel continued the saga with new faces but left some fans longing for the original chemistry.

The series now enters a new era as Farhan Akhtar is revamping it with Ranveer Singh casting as the anti-hero. The relaunch is accompanied by Kiara Advani promsing a fresh take on the classic story and marks a change of course for the much-loved series.
