Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 20: In an exclusive interview with Rahul Varun of The Filmy Charcha, Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh finally broke his silence on the recent controversy involving him and young actress Anushka Sen. A video clip of Neil pointing a finger at Anushka during a conversation went viral on social media, sparking harsh criticism and wild assumptions. Now, Neil has come forward to clear the air and share the actual incident behind the misleading moment.

For those unaware, the controversy stemmed from a short, context-less video circulating online where Neil appeared to be pointing at Anushka Sen and talking sternly. The clip quickly gained traction, with dramatic captions such as “Aadhi umar ki heroine par chillaate dikhe Neil Nitin Mukesh” (Neil seen shouting at an actress half his age). Many netizens assumed Neil was scolding or misbehaving with Anushka, and some even speculated she must have done something wrong to provoke such a reaction.

However, the truth was far from what it appeared.

In the interview, Neil expressed his deep disappointment over the way media outlets twisted the narrative for views and engagement. “I felt extremely bad,” he said. “Without knowing the actual context, people created a sensational story just to gain TRP or increase their views. It's heartbreaking how a person's image and respect can be damaged within seconds.”

Neil revealed the real incident occurred around 10:30–11:00 p.m. during a shoot. He was with his father, who wasn’t visible in the clip. Concerned about his father's well-being, Neil asked him if he had eaten. Upon learning he hadn’t, Neil insisted on arranging food for him. While leaving to get the food, Neil noticed Anushka and politely asked, “Beta, have you eaten?”

He recalled, “I just asked her whether she had eaten because it was too late and we had been working for hours. She said no, so I told her, ‘Why haven’t you eaten? Please go and eat first.’” According to Neil, it was purely a caring gesture, nothing more.

He further added, “If someone asks you if you’ve had water, tea, or food – that’s basic humanity. It was shocking to see that moment being misunderstood so badly. I was asking with affection, not anger.”

Neil also expressed his admiration for Anushka Sen, calling her a “sweet and lovable girl.” He said there was absolutely no reason for him to shout at her, especially since they share a positive bond. “She has always supported us, and vice versa. We first met during the promotions of the show. The entire clip was taken out of context and misrepresented. Even our fans were left confused, thinking something serious must’ve happened.”

He concluded by saying that while it’s not possible to clarify every single rumour, he clarified here to set the record straight. “Anushka and I laughed about the whole thing. We both know the truth – and the truth is, there was no shouting, no disrespect, just care.”
