‘Didn’t Share His Pain…’ Anurag Kashyap Reveals THIS About Ranveer Singh After Dhurandhar 2 Success

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has praised Ranveer Singh for his strong dedication to acting. The actor is currently enjoying huge success with Dhurandhar 2. However, Kashyap says this level of commitment is not new for him.

In a recent chat with Miss Malini, Kashyap shared an old incident from the sets of Lootera. This was early in Ranveer’s career, long before he became a major box office star. The story shows how far the actor goes to make his performance feel real.

During the conversation, Kashyap spoke about how people are now talking about the intense action and risks taken in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar. The films have been widely discussed for the physical effort put in by the cast, including Arjun Rampal.

However, Kashyap made it clear that Ranveer has always been like this. He recalled a moment from Lootera, which also starred Sonakshi Sinha.

Anurag said, "We are hearing stories about Dhurandhar and how he and Arjun Rampal injured and hurt each other. So, that's how far they went for the role, and the film got amazing numbers, right? But Ranveer Singh, in his second film Lootera, when he gets shot in the climax and to feel that right feeling, he took a clip without telling anyone and clipped himself on the stomach."

He further added, “He went so far as an actor to create that, we had to take him to the hospital. The film didn't do the numbers of Dhurandhar, but it's that man's conviction. He didn't share his pain with anyone. Nobody came to know till he couldn't move."

Dhurandhar franchise has become a big success in Indian cinema. The first film earned more than ₹1300 crore worldwide after its release in December.

Now, Dhurandhar 2, released on March 19, has crossed Rs 1600 crore globally. This makes it one of the biggest hits in recent times.

The film also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Arjun Rampal.

The story follows Ranveer’s character, Hamza, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi. It shows his rise in power in Lyari and his fight against a terror network that threatens India. The sequel also explores his past and the reasons behind his actions, which have connected well with audiences.

While talking about Ranveer, Kashyap is also busy with his own projects. He is known for films like Gangs of Wasseypur, which has a strong fan base. His recent films include Kennedy and Nishaanchi. Kennedy, starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, was released on a streaming platform in February 2026 after its festival run.

Kashyap is also set to make his acting debut in Telugu cinema with Dacoit. The film stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur.
