Karan Johar's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri recently hit theatres. However, the response has been disappointing. The romantic comedy, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, opened to weak box office numbers. Since its release, the film has faced heavy criticism from critics and moviegoers.

Many viewers feel the film offers nothing new. Several have called it predictable and uninspired. Audiences say it leans too much on old Bollywood formulas. As a result, the film understands the genre but fails to excite.

Critics have also pointed out that the story lacks originality. They believe the narrative borrows too heavily from classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Tum, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. This constant referencing makes the film feel familiar rather than fresh. Some reviewers added that Kartik Aaryan appears to be on autopilot in many scenes. They feel his performance looks repetitive instead of charming.

The characters of Ray and Rumi have not impressed either. Early reactions describe them as shallow and immature. Many viewers found it hard to connect with their love story. The romance feels forced and rushed. Some critics also questioned Ray’s character arc. They noted that he often behaves irrationally despite being raised with progressive values. Viewers also flagged several logic gaps in the story, including sudden success and major life choices made too quickly.

Tone has emerged as one of the film’s biggest problems. The story jumps between awkward comedy and emotional drama. This shift feels sudden and uneven. While some found the first half light and easy to watch, the second half drags badly. The slow pace makes the film feel longer than its runtime.

The film looks visually polished, but the humour rarely lands. Several side plots appear briefly and then disappear without closure. This leaves the story feeling incomplete and messy.

Amid these reviews, one angry viewer reaction went viral online. The post was first shared on Reddit and later spread on X. Though the original post was deleted, screenshots continued to circulate widely.

In his post, the user strongly criticised Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. He said Kartik suits short grooming or facewash advertisements, while Ananya fits skincare commercials. According to him, that is where their appeal ends. He added that watching them in a full-length feature film feels irritating and overwhelming.

The user also argued that allowing what he called “expression-dead” performers to show emotions on screen should be a bigger outrage than debates around whether Dhurandhar is a propaganda film. He compared two sides of Hindi cinema. On one side, he mentioned Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna and Aditya Dhar. He said their work reminds audiences why theatres matter. On the other side, he claimed Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Karan Johar give people reasons to avoid theatres.

The viewer also mocked the film’s title. He called it confusing and repetitive. He felt the name reflected the film’s quality. He ended his post with the harsh line, “Do kaudi ki tum dono ki film.”

The rant triggered strong reactions online. One user wrote, “This whole review is even better than the movie and their lead’s acting.” Another said, “Jitni mehnat bande ne comment likhne me ki h kaash writer uski atleast aadhi mehnat script likhne me kardete.” A third user said, “Do kaudi ki film had me rolling?” One more commented, “Bhai half star bhi kyu diyaa ??.”

Released on December 25, 2025, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri follows Ray, a carefree young man living in the US, and Rumi, an aspiring writer from Agra. Their story begins in Croatia and later shifts to family pressure and cultural clashes. The film is directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. 

It also stars Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff and Tiku Talsania. With a runtime of about 145 minutes and music by Vishal-Shekhar, the film aimed to be a festive rom-com. So far, it has struggled to win hearts.
