Ameesha Patel Recalls Exhausting Gadar 2 Shoot: 'People Thought I Was Dead'

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] January 10: Despite Gadar 2's huge success in 2023, Ameesha Patel, who returned to her legendary role as Sakina, Tara Singh's love interest played by Sunny Deol, revealed a scary behind-the-scenes story that brought to light the mental and physical toll that production took on her.

It was mentally and physically exhausting. "Anil Sharma ji, please make sure the water is hot because I'm going to get sick," I remarked when I spoke with him. "Don't worry, there will be hot water," he had stated. But I was wearing a flimsy cotton salwar kameez when I went for the picture. Unlike heroes, who wear their coats and leg warmers underneath their kurta pyjamas, heroines have this issue. We are unable to accomplish that. In an interview with Jarp Media, Ameesha remarked, "I was shocked the first time the water was showered on it because it was freezing cold."

The 49-year-old actress also described how the staff of the movie went out of their way to attempt to make her feel better. They gave me whisky to drink and apply on my feet. However, in spite of everything they tried, I became sicker and eventually passed out," Ameesha, who is also well-known for her parts in Humraaz (2002) and Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000), remarked.

"After I completed the scene, which my staff is aware of but others are not." To get me to my makeup vehicle, they had to lift me. I was not conscious. It took me three or four hours to wake up. I was believed to be dead. I literally got to the point where others were saying, "She won't survive." They had covered me with blankets made of wool. After four hours of sleep, I opened my eyes and asked myself, "Where am I?" I had fallen asleep. I couldn't remember a thing that had happened to me over those four hours. People on the unit, including my colleagues, sighed with relief as I woke up," she continued.

Her co-star Sunny Deol, who portrayed Tara Singh, was there to help her through this upheaval. Ameesha recalled with fondness how Sunny took care of her throughout this trying time.

"My real-life Tara Singh was Sunny Sir. When I needed him, he was there for Sakina. You won't believe that he used a thermometer to check my temperature and a blood pressure machine he took from his room. The local doctors in Mumbai wanted to inject me because I was throwing up all the time, but Sunny called our common doctor. Sunny, however, did not want me to have any inappropriate injections. He was quite kind. He was consulting with their Mumbai-based physician, Dr. Agarwal, to determine what works and what doesn't. He was quite kind. "He is my Tara in real life," Ameesha remarked.

Gadar 2 became one of the highest-grossing films of 2023 after being a huge box office success and earning over 500 crore worldwide.
