Aamir Khan Reveals Awwal Number Was Unlucky For Him

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] June 14: Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par features ten lead characters with special needs, some portrayed by actors with Down syndrome and autism, highlighting inclusivity and representation. In a recent press meet, Aamir Khan opened about many things especially he talked about his upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par, he also shared how was his journey and experience working with specially-abled actors. While answering some of the questions, he revealed some unknown facts too. 

Aamir was asked that sports has been lucky genre for him as Lagaan, Dangal and Sitaare Zameen Par. To which Aamir replied, “Yes, it might be true, Sports has been lucky for me but I have never thought like that. Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar had Cycling, Ghulam had Boxing, Awwal Number had Cricket in it but in that we were unlucky that means it didn’t do well. In fact, it is Ranbir’s favourite film as he has told me many times, he also knows each and every dialogue of the film. 

But based on data we can clearly say that, Sports genre has done wonders for Aamir Khan. Some of the clear examples are Dangal which was based on wrestling is an all time blockbuster movie. Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar was based on backdrop of cycling was also super hit at the box office. Lagaan which was based on cricket is an another all time blockbuster movie in his filmography. Now with Sitaare Zameen Par which is based on basketball, he might be hoping that this time too this genre works for him. 

Aamir is set to return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, releasing on June 20. The film, directed by RS Prasanna, follows Aamir as a basketball coach who must train a team of neurodivergent children. It’s a punishment that turns into a lesson in growth, for both coach and team. The film features ten newcomers alongside Genelia Deshmukh and is a remake of the Spanish hit Campeones. It’s being seen as a spiritual follow-up to Aamir’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par.
