Riteish Deshmukh, often praised for his fun-loving image and down-to-earth nature, is now facing heat online. A viral video from the Sitaare Zameen Par premiere shows the actor brushing off a young fan’s request for a selfie, leaving many disappointed.

The incident happened while Riteish and his wife Genelia D’Souza were entering the screening. As they walked through the crowd, a boy tried to take a selfie. Riteish quickly pushed the fan’s phone down and kept walking. The fan looked visibly upset, and the video sparked immediate backlash.

Social media users weren’t happy. The clip spread quickly, with many calling out Riteish’s attitude. One person wrote, “First time mujhe Ritesh ka attitude pasand nhi aaya.” Another added, “Not expected from Ritesh. Very wrong attitude. Sorry, unfollow you now.”

A user even tagged the actor saying, “Imagine his parents sent him with excitement for a photo. He came politely. Why be so cold?” Others said this wasn’t the Riteish they’ve admired for years, especially given his usual image of being humble and friendly.

Some brought up his last release, Housefull 5, mocking him for carrying “starry airs” despite the film’s mixed reception. “Bro, this is not the attitude to carry after Housefull 5,” one wrote sarcastically.

Fans were particularly surprised because Riteish has always been seen as one of the “nice guys” in Bollywood. From funny videos with Genelia to wholesome family content, he’s rarely caught in controversy.

Genelia, who was right beside him during the incident, didn’t react and has not commented. Neither has Riteish, even as the video continues to circulate.

While some defended him, saying the crowd seemed overwhelming and security might have been a concern, the majority expected a gentler approach, especially toward a young fan. Many argued that a small gesture of kindness goes a long way.
